How the heck did we get here!?

Replay began as a punchy Record store that sold used vinyl and used cds, used comics, and a few video games in Oldtown, across from the Temple Club. Within 28 days of opening, a fire in the apartment building next door had caused smoke and water damage, forcing Replay to shut down and lick its wounds. Later that winter, Replay reopened on Michigan Ave in Lansing's hip Eastside, and in addition to the store, provided a live all-ages venue for local and nationally touring acts. Small time bands from all over the country played during the short time in Michigan Ave that summer. Come fall, Replay had the opportunity to move into Downtown East Lansing, and moved into a small spot of a former record store on MAC ave. A year later, Replay had the opportunity to move onto Grand River Ave between Melting Moments and Barnes & Noble, and help us with our lack of space! Finally, needing even more space as we became more well known, and responding to the needs of our longtime customers, Replay moved to the Brookfield Plaza, almost doubling the size of our store, giving our customers Free Parking, and lowering our rent in the process. But then .....

...it happened. We moved. Again.

With the Brookfield Plaza filling up to capacity with other businesses, and our parking lot always being full, making it difficult for our regulars to park, after being there for just over 6 years, we asked ourselves some hard questions. Was Replay growing and becoming the store we wanted it to be? Would we ever be able to return to our roots of live music and events? After some soul searching, it became apparent, that a shake up was needed. So we started searching for somewhere for the next evolution of Replay, somewhere to grow into what we wanted to be for not only our next 10 years, but for the rest of our existence. We searched for various locations that fitted our criteria: 1.) It needs to be a building that can amply house not only our retail shop, but allow us a true venue space for live performances and events. 2.) It needed to be bigger overall, and allow us to house our t-shirt business production in hopefully a totally separate space. 3.) It needed to be in a part of town that was on the rise, and a great addition to the community. After months of searching, we found our new home. In Oldtown Lansing.

Right across the street from where we first opened back in 2006.

You've got to be @#$*&^@ kidding me.

The space was perfect. It was 2 buildings, one smaller one for our custom t-shirt production, and one larger building that would house Replay, AND provide a huge venue space, that we now are beginning the long process of building into a Barcade. After we left Oldtown back in 2006, it has blossomed into one of the premier unique small business districts in the Greater Lansing area, complete with great restaurants and bars, and top notch boutiques and independent retail. The Oldtown Lansing that we left had become the part of town we hoped it would be in 2006, and now moving back in, it felt like home. In the long ongoing process of renovating the buildings, we opened up the Oldtown Food Truck Court in our parking lot, to add for food options for our live events, and to bring fantastic unique cuisine to Oldtown's menu. We're still buying, selling, and trading Movies, Music, and Games, but we're also hosting Concerts, Afterparties, Non-Profit Meeting Space events, and bringing back events like the B-Movie Beatdown.

It's been a long, strange, wild ride for our first 10 years, and as we break into our new home, we look forward to seeing you for 10 more years, and beyond. So stop on by to Oldtown, grab a movie and a bite from our Oldtown Food Truck Court, or catch a concert with your new favorite Band or DJ, and welcome, to Replay.

We're open EVERYDAY, and we're ALWAYS BUYING!
